Member Weight

RedSpec automatically adds LVL beam, glulam beam, and sawn lumber weight to input dead load. I-joist and open-web truss self-weights are not added to input dead loads. They are assumed to be part of the input dead load.

Click the "Include Self Weight" checkbox in the Application Loads Tab when the Dead Load entered does not include the self weight of the joist.  The default for this is off for I-Joist and OpenWeb trusses, and on for beams.  If checkbox is selected, the self weight will show on the printed report.

Member weight is factored as dead load in load combinations as appropriate for the chosen building code.
